Yeah, we still haven’t heard the results of the Warner Bros. contest! Up until this past Monday it wasn’t really on my mind because I was consumed with designing and writing Battlenoid Redux by the deadline (this past Monday, made it!) that was set for the design test I made it for(more on this later). But now that I have had a chance to take a deep breath I am back to feeling the anticipation of this delayed results announcement. We finished the game nearly a month ago, which is a long time for someone like me who currently perceives time in something akin to dog years (except shorter, more like Mayfly years)…My foray into flash game development could be over in another months time if things don’t work out right, it’s a financially and life-goal(ally) unsustainable voyage at present.
Now just because I am anxiously awaiting the results of the Batman contest that doesn’t mean that I am simply gonna sit on my hands till I hear. Nope, I am as busy as ever, the deadline for the design test is not the end of the Battlenoid Redux development, I plan to make it the crown jewel of my portfolio and won’t rest until that is accomplished (though hopefully that is accomplished in the next 3-4 weeks). Further I am working on Trial Tower III: Takedown, the game I mentioned earlier that is associated with Newgrounds’ Power of 3 contest. This game will hopefully be another evolution for me in terms of game design and execution.
I am also trying to organize and streamline my work-flow, create a better and more engaging web presence (via Twitter, which I will now be updating “daily” so follow me peoples), and generally consolidate everything I have learned over the past year to create a better Game Designer. I am going to try my hand at some game reviews as well, I hear these are good to do for aspiring game designers, so stay tuned for some opinionated reports on sometimes unusual (I have an eclectic taste) games I come across. Finally, I considered writing some how-to posts and hints for working with AS3 but really why bother when you could just go to Emanuel Feronato’s blog (he is the man)…so instead I am going to write a bit about balancing game development with physical fitness, a niche my past experience allows me to fill!
